About Vietti

Vietti Luca Corrade winery in the vineyard

The Vietti winery has existed since 1873 and has built an enormous reputation, especially over the last 20 years. In addition to Barbera and Dolcetto, the focus is entirely on Barolo. The wines from the great vineyards are among the finest in the world and are characterized by their balance between tradition and modern influences. The son of the house, Luca Currado, who is responsible for the winemaking process, has consistently relied on lower temperatures and aging in medium-sized used wooden barrels in recent years to add a fresh and fruity note to the tannin and extract monsters. In the vineyard, the family relies on extreme selection, ensuring that only the smallest quantities of the finest grapes find their way to the winery. All of this is done by hand and is certified organic.

In the Castiglione Barolo DOCG, all the vineyards of the winery that are not bottled individually come together to create an outstanding cuvée. The wine remains at the winery for at least three years before being released. Typically, Nebbiolo wines are usually very reserved in their youth, but from about six years of age onward, they promise a firework display that develops and intensifies each year. Even the "lesser" Langhe Nebbiolos, such as the Perbacco Langhe Nebbiolo DOCG, need their first few years of maturation, but then offer a spectacular drinking experience.

Vietti Winery wine barrels in the cellar

The second great Piedmontese specialty from Vietti is Barbera. These wines impress with their vibrant freshness and complex bouquet of fruit and subtle spicy notes.

The Vietti winery must also be considered the avant-garde in Roero Arneis. The first single-varietal Arneis wines in Italy were vinified and bottled by Vietti. The elegant Roero Arneis DOCG , which is also partially aged in oak, is wonderfully soft and full-bodied, yet not overly opulent or overly rich. It delights the nose with aromas reminiscent of white peaches, blossoms, and almonds. Vietti offers consistently excellent quality across vintages, vineyards, and grape varieties.
