From 25-year-old vines, grown at an altitude of over 500 meters on sandy-loam soil. Like everything at Case Alte, it's hand-picked, fermented in steel, and then aged for 8 months in French oak. Sour cherry, raspberry, and a hint of blackberry—a truly juicy fruit bursts from the glass, underscored by clove, a touch of anise, and notes of tobacco. Dense, juicy fruit in the mouth, totally fresh, with light tannins, plenty of clove again, a heavy spice, and salty hints. A dense, fleshy structure on the palate, the fine acidity pervades, with dark fruit and ethereal spice on the finish. This is a juicy treat, a mouthful of wine that goes wonderfully with Sicilian cuisine. It practically begs for a juicy Parmigiana!
