The Wine

Les Montachins is the name of the less than one-hectare plot from which the Sauvignon grapes for this Sancerre come. Old vines grown on flint on a steep slope. Aged on the fine lees for 8 months in steel, bottled with minimal sulfurization. Fragrant nose, fresh yellow fruit, citrus fruit, smoky-mineral, spicy notes underneath, the flint comes through fully. A fully defined, energetic bouquet. Crisp and fresh on the palate, bone dry, fine tannins coat the mouth. Beautiful salty piquancy, fine ripe acidity, a very wiry, agile, energetic body, a truly beautiful finish, very finely aromatic. A burst of citrus fruit, endless lemon zest. A totally stimulating, lively, archetypal Sancerre, this one really puts you in a good mood with all its energy! Wonderful with all kinds of seafood, with or without legs, but also fine dishes with green vegetables. Or with goat's cheese. Or just on its own. Really good!

The Winery

Eric Louis
Eric Louis Eric Louis represents a tradition of winemaking in the central Loire Valley. Founded four generations ago by great-grandmother Pauline, the winery today specializes in Sauvignons from the vineyards around Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé, and Menetou Salon. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable methods, often harvesting at night or early in the morning to ensure the characteristic freshness of the Sauvignon Blancs. The result is crisp, cool-climate wines with a wide range of flavors.
