The Wine

Over 50-year-old vines, grown on limestone. Completely sulfite-free; Chandon bottles the wines in separate batches, with and without sulfites, otherwise from identical origins and production processes. A very spicy nose, with lovage, deep black fruit, a sweet, dense extract, and then again this savory, savory spice. Superbly complex and fragrant; you could sit and linger on this bouquet for hours. Totally juicy in the mouth, with a very fine acidity, endless red and black fruits, yet so finely and elegantly structured, the finest tannins, the most delicate tannin, all of which sweeps across the palate with succinctness and purpose into a long, focused finish, velvety and silky on the palate. As always with Chandon, the wine is bursting with finesse and elegance, yet so full of expression and depth. A powerful piece of the finest Burgundy!

The Winery

Chandon de Briailles
Chandon de Briailles Located in Savigny-les-Beaune, Chandon represents a purist Burgundy style on the Côte d'Or, featuring biodynamic viticulture and uncompromising "do-nothing" in the cellar. Formerly a Parisian wine merchant, Francois de Nicolay and his sister Claude cultivate some of the absolute top vineyards between Beaune and Corton. The wines produced here are bright, extremely juicy, and some are already drinkable even in their youth.
