The Wine
Here we have the house's greatest red wine in our glass. From approximately 25-year-old vines, grown on sandy and clayey soils at an altitude of 500 meters. Hand-picked, aged for 12 months in used oak. A very dense, fleshy nose. Hearty spice, olive, black fruit, profound, dark spice, graphite. Concentrated on the palate, full of extract and grip, plenty of salt, yet very fresh despite its power. It packs a punch, is very robust, and has zero sweetness. Red and black berry fruit come through again. With air, it adds a lot of complexity, and everything becomes even more refined. This could easily age, but is already fully present and open because the acidity is so well integrated and the tannins aren't overpowering. You can clearly feel the 500 meters of altitude here; everything is in its place: nothing too much, too thick, or too ripe, but despite all its density, it's wonderfully fresh and clear. A wonderfully profound and structured Syrah that shows the character of its origins and is in no way inferior to many famous Syrahs from the northern Rhône!
