About Champagne Alexis
The origins of Maison Xavier Leconte, run by Alexis Leconte in the sixth generation, date back to the late 19th century. When Alexis's father took over the business in the Valée de la Marne in 1980, he first expanded the vineyard area and added some Chardonnay vines to the Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier already planted. Today, Alexis owns small plots in Troissy, Dormans, Mareuil-le-Port, Vandières, and Ay. In the vineyard, he works with the ambition to preserve the vitality of the soil and accordingly avoids synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. The goal is healthy harvests, which are then vinified separately by plot to achieve the most individual and terroir-specific character possible.

The entry-level offering is Totem , a cuvée of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay, which is hard to beat in terms of drinkability and lightheartedness. The Aria is a Blanc de Blancs, which for us represents the archetype of Chardonnay Champagne: the full force of ripe lemons paired with the coolness and dustiness of limestone and chalk. The house's Grand Cru, Ageius Aÿ , with its extreme salinity, is certainly the most sophisticated representative and a true experience. All Alexis Champagnes are characterized by complexity, vitality, and depth. From the base to the Grand Cru, Alexis is a terroir pedant, and we were in love from the first sip.
