About Clos du Moulin aux Moines

Clos du Moulin aux Moines - the Clos vineyard

The original history of Clos du Moulin aux Moines (hereafter referred to as CMM) dates back to the 10th century. The significant qualitative shift came in 2008 with the acquisition of the estate by the Rollin family, the involvement of oenologist Willy Roulendes in the management of the estate, and the concomitant introduction of biodynamic farming and a rigorous focus on quality. CMM currently cultivates 16 hectares of vineyards in Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, and Monthelie. The heart of the property is the eponymous three-hectare monopole vineyard, bordering the estate and Meursault to the east.

In the ancient cellars, the wines are aged with only a minimal amount of new oak. Following intensive vineyard work, the focus here is on low intervention and a clear focus on the wine's most authentic expression, with only careful supervision during aging in the cellar. This is how CMM creates fragrant, spicy wines full of depth and expression. The wines vibrate with excitement and exude an engaging, natural quality. Wild, original wines from the heart of Burgundy.
