About Corzano e Paterno

The Corzano e Paterno winery was acquired by Swiss architect Wendel Gelpke in the late 1960s as a dilapidated Tuscan estate and extensively restored. Today, it is run by his nephew Aljoscha Goldschmidt and his nephew Ariana. Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malvasia, Petit Manseng, and Semillon are cultivated on 18 hectares of vineyards. Annual production is approximately 85,000 bottles, and the winery is certified according to the EC organic regulations.
We are particularly impressed by the winery's red wines. The Terre di Corzano, classified as a Chianti, is, in our opinion, THE flagship Chianti in this price segment. Sangiovese in all its glory, powerful yet lively, always underpinned by a vibrant and invigorating freshness. Unbeatable for this price, and it never gets boring: with pizza, pasta, or on its own—this wine always works. Its big brother, the Tre Borri Sangiovese IGT, is a Riserva, offering corresponding complexity and longevity thanks to its barrel aging. Here, too, a wonderful interplay of full steam with extraordinary freshness and focus. For us, Corzano is the epitome of Tuscan wines; every sip evokes the cypress-lined landscapes and the region's excellent food.
