The Wine
A tribute to Angelin, the grandfather of the winegrowing brothers Pietro and Aldo. 100% hand-harvested Lagrein, fermented in steel, and aged for 8 months in used tonneaux. A tiny production of 1,296 bottles. A spicy and fruity nose with plenty of red fruit, wild strawberry, cherry, and a touch of raspberry. Zero sweetness, but rather a crisp, tart character. On the palate, it's powerful and bone-dry, with tart, slightly astringent tannins and zesty acidity. It packs a punch, has power and drive. Some red fruit again, but not overtly, accompanied by tart citrus aromas. A powerful rosé wine, not a gentle breeze blowing over southern France, but a full-bodied and complex wine with spice and fruit. Perfect with ceviche, tuna or beef tartare, or pan-fried fish and meat. The Angelin also has excellent aging potential for several years; unusual for a rosé, but the structure allows for it, and Pietro and Aldo highly recommend it. An exceptional rosé that packs a punch!
