About Tenuta La Cà

Tenuta la Ca view of the vineyards

Tenuta La Cà covers 15 hectares (including 12 hectares of vineyards) and is located in the Calmasino area of Bardolino. The winery is located in the heart of the Bardolino DOC wine-growing region, which runs along the eastern shore of Lake Garda and extends from the moraine hills to the hinterland of the province of Verona in the south. The idea for winemaking at Tenuta La Cà originated with brothers Pietro and Aldo.

In the spring of 2018, they decided to leave their big-city life behind and return to their small hometown. Their winemaking philosophy essentially consists of letting the grapes grow at their own pace and interfering with the natural process as little as possible. The brothers describe their approach to the entire winemaking process as "pure and direct," with the grapes being harvested exclusively by hand and always processed with the utmost care.

The Tenuta's grape variety spectrum includes Corvina, Rondinella, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Lagrein, Pinot Bianco, Traminer, and Garganega. The grapes are always fermented spontaneously, and the subsequent winemaking process relies solely on gravity and time. No additives are added to the must or young wine, and the unique flavor arises from the careful selection and combination of different varieties and plots. The sub-Mediterranean climate and high-quality soils contribute to the wines' distinctive characteristics.

The brothers emphasize that while their wines all speak the same language, each has its own distinct accent. For us, part of that language lies in the tremendous vitality and energy the wines bring to the glass. Added to this is a tremendous focus and clarity that underscores their approach to extremely serious winemaking. We were in love and fascinated from the first sip, and remain so to this day.
