The Wine

The Argos from Les Poëte is a single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc from Quincy, aged in used wood and a small amount of stainless steel. On the nose, it offers aromas of wet stone, citrus, somewhat buttery, and young green vegetables and young peas. In the mouth, it's very powerful and piquant, with salt and a brilliant acidity rushing across the palate. Everything is very precise and straightforward. With a few hours of airing, the acidity and bite are tempered, and the wine takes on a somewhat softer and rounder character. A little more herbal spice and florality emerge. The enormous saltiness and piquancy remain. Overall, a very terroir-focused Sauvignon from the Loire with little fruit and lots of stone, yet no overt wood—a very clear and refined style. A complex and characterful wine with plenty of depth.
