About Domaine Les Poëte

Les Poëte is a winery in the Loire Valley named after Esther Poëte, the grandmother of current owner Guillaume Sorbe. The approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards are located in Reuilly, Quincy, Pouilly-Fumé, and Touraine, with Sorbe specializing in Sauvignon Blanc. Small quantities of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are also represented. Wines from Touraine are characterized by their freshness, lightness, and elegance. The region is known for its first-class Sauvignon Blanc wines, which develop their full potential on the calcareous soils.
However, for us, the wines from Les Poëte are a real insider tip in Touraine and are among the absolute top Sauvignon Blancs. They are undoubtedly among the most sophisticated white wines of the Loire Valley. Guillaume Sorbe cultivates his vineyards with a holistic approach, relying on organic and biodynamic cultivation. The wines are vinified very carefully and only released after several years. Even in the base wine, Les S de Poëte, an incredibly energetic and finely polished Sauvignon comes into the glass, which puts the easy-drinking Sauvignons of Touraine to shame. The Pouilly-Fumé AOC is on the herbal and spicy side, with wonderfully polished acidity and an intense salinity on the finish. The Argos Sauvignon Blanc , however, takes the cake: a wine unsurpassed in florality, complexity, and smoothness, which seems to linger on the palate for minutes. Absolutely top class!
