The Wine

Bordeaux meets Northern Italy: Merlot, Corvina, Lagrein, and Cabernet Franc mature for 12 months in used barriques and tonneaux, followed by another 8 months in large, 25-hectoliter oak barrels. A dense, dark-spicy nose full of black fruit: plum, blackberry, and sweet black cherry. Cool ethereal notes of eucalyptus and mint, a hint of tobacco. The palate continues with more dense black fruit, fine and beautifully integrated acidity, a hint of piquancy on the tip of the tongue, slightly tart yet melting tannins, very balanced and full, yet fresh and clear with brilliant aromatics. As always with Pietro & Aldo, a wonderful balancing act between generous and dynamic, fresh elements in the wine. It's approachable and totally drinkable, but never banal; always structured, complex, and vibrant with great aromatic depth. A real fun wine of the highest quality, highly recommended!
