The Wine
From over 40-year-old vines from a 0.22-hectare plot in the Blanchot limestone vineyard. This is one of three Grand Cru wines from the two brothers. A very typical varietal nose, with a very maritime character with oyster shell and salty notes; it has a chalky, mineral aroma. A hint of anise, butter, and brioche are present. With air, the bouquet becomes clearer, with ripe yellow fruit shining through, along with grapefruit and lime zest, and salted lemon. A wonderful, captivating aroma. Then a very dense, juicy, creamy mouthfeel. With that, there's endless salty piquancy, totally invigorating, paired with hints of ripe yellow fruit, ripe citrus fruit, and more grapefruit. It's so savory, salty, and intense, it's incredible. The salty piquancy lingers forever into the finish, lingering on the palate for minutes. This has tremendous substance and power, a mouthful of wine. A powerful, grand Burgundy that will gain balance and elegance with some ageing; then this is a Chablis to fall to your knees.
