The Wine
Up to 40-year-old Chardonnay vines, fermented on the full lees for two years in large oak barrels. Dense, concentrated, compact nose full of yellow fruit, herbal spice, nutty notes, salty notes, wet stone, and ripe citrus fruit. Very round, full, and aromatic, tightly woven. Soft and creamy on the palate, with a completely full and tightly woven structure. Then a fine, integrated acidity bursts through, along with a piquant salty hint that lingers with present, crisp tannins into the finish. This lingers well, with yellow fruit and stony minerality lined up with salty lemon on the palate, accompanied by more nutty notes. A multi-layered, complex Chardonnay with plenty of steam, a great structure with power and strength, while simultaneously displaying elegance and precision, salty piquancy, and great extract.

The Winery
Weingut Velich
Heinz and Robert Velich are known for their complex and balanced white wines from Lake Neusiedl. Numerous small lakes, called "Lacken", create a special microclimate here, which is crucial to the wines' characteristics. The majority of the wines are also fermented and/or aged in oak, which imparts a pleasant spiciness and opulence.
