The Wine

The 2021 Crozes Hermitage "Aux Bêtises" by David Reynaud is a successful fusion of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne, grown on shell limestone terraces. A bright golden yellow in the glass, the nose displays fully ripe yellow fruits: mango, pineapple, peach, and a hint of pear. The fruit is carried by butter and spice, wonderfully soft yet never fattening. Especially in its youth, this Crozes Hermitage impresses with its wonderful freshness. In the mouth, it is juicy and at the same time full of creaminess and spice from dried mountain herbs. Salinity and acidity on the palate counterbalance the expansive nose. Fermentation took place in concrete tanks, followed by aging in concrete and French oak barrels. A wine that, in its youth, certainly tolerates air and is an excellent accompaniment to white meat or hearty fish dishes.
