The Wine

This single-varietal Syrah comes from clay and limestone terraces in the municipality of Beaumont-Monteux. A bright ruby red in the glass, darkening towards the center. The nose is animal-like and meaty, yet incredibly cool and vital. Freshly picked sour cherry underscores a subtle peppery spice. In the mouth, the wine practically draws you from the tip of your tongue to the palate; it's juicy and fresh, laced with fine tannins that keep the glou-glou effect just in check. Spontaneous fermentation and aging take place entirely in concrete. An extremely fairly priced Crôzes-Hermitage and a great introduction to David Reynaud's fresh, powerful wines.
