The Wine

The Instinct Meunier Brut Nature from Jeaunaux-Robin contains 100% Pinot Meunier from approximately 60-year-old vines from the "Le Grand Morceau" plot in the Vallée du Petit Morin. A champagne fermented and aged in used oak, with zero grams of dosage. Only about 1,800 bottles of this Blanc de Meunier were filled. Dark golden yellow in the glass. An expansive bouquet full of brioche, shortcrust pastry, dark spice, and a hint of nutty and savory. Very yeasty and fresh—delicate and floating, yet still very intense. On the palate, there's plenty of fine perlage; here, too, everything seems to float, but underpinned by that spicy, tart character, and, of course, bone dry, typical Brut Nature. This is a truly fine spice for a variety of occasions, certainly a fantastic accompaniment to hearty dishes, very characterful and special. You don't often get a single-varietal Pinot Meunier in this purist style - an absolute recommendation!

The Winery

Jeaunaux-Robin
Jeaunaux-Robin In the very south of the Côte de Blancs, Cyril Jeaunaux makes champagne primarily from Pinot Meunier. His wines are bursting with energy (just like him) and bring a buoyant acidity to the glass, interplaying with intense and voluminous aromas. His style is honest, straightforward, and certainly controversial. We love him and have completely fallen under the spell of these sparkling wines' unabashedly easy-drinking nature.
