The Wine

Ancient vines grown on blue slate in the upper terraces of the Fahrlay. Matured in a used, large barrel vat. On the nose, delicately spicy, slatey, and slightly smoky. Beautifully fragrant in this bitterness, revealing zero opulence or fruit. It really hits the spot in the mouth, with a very fine, salty acidity penetrating the palate, great piquancy, plenty of citrus peel and fruit, blended with this stony, slatey spice. A totally energetic Riesling rocket that rushes across the palate with focus, completely ignoring fruit and richness. If you appreciate this highly intense style, this is already a delight with plenty of aeration – however, bottle aging will further refine the balance and harmony.

The Winery

Clemens Busch
Clemens Busch Clemens Busch is a true pioneer of sustainable viticulture and biodynamics on the terraced Mosel. The family business has been certified organic in its vineyards since 1986 and avoids any additives or synthetic aids in the cellar. The color of the bottle caps (gray, blue, or red) reveals the slate from which the Riesling originates. Despite their differences, the wines are united by their expressiveness, focus on the terroir, and a wonderfully juicy drinkability.
