The Wine

The Ried Sulz vineyard is characterized by cool limestone marl soils and a warm microclimate. The vines grow here as if in a protected basin, with the Morillon (Styrian for "Chardonnay") in particular achieving exceptional ripeness . After hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in old wooden barrels. The result is an elegant and fresh wine that strikes a perfect balance between austere and generous elements. The nose displays the stoniness typical of Tement and crisp green aromas, with yellow nuances of apricot and greengage. On the palate, it is wonderfully creamy, punctuated and kept in check by ripe acidity. A perfectly balanced interplay that always leaves you wanting the next sip. A mineral tingle and the freshness of Styrian mountain herbs linger on the palate . With some aeration, this wine is extremely enjoyable even at its young age, but also has time to mature. Pair it with a Wiener Schnitzel, and the day is perfect.

The Winery

Weingut Tement
Weingut Tement Over the years, Tement has earned a reputation as the premier source for Austrian Sauvignon Blanc. Zieregg, in particular, is now considered one of the world's most outstanding white wines, and for good reason. The barren soils, bare rocks, and impressive slopes create extreme conditions in which only exceptional wines can thrive.
