The Wine
Fragrant on the nose, delicate fruit, yellow stone fruit, mineral spice beneath, recurring slate notes, along with some red fruit, blackcurrant flashes through, all very cool and lean, yet super intense. With plenty of aeration, intense ethereal peppermint and a hint of eucalyptus emerge. A totally exciting, complex, and highly intense nose. On the palate, it's very piquant, salty, spicy, with crisp acidity and dark smokiness, a very compact, firm body, and a very wiry structure. The tannins are very present; the wine has a ton of extract, is very tactile; you can almost chew it; the finish drags on forever. Even though it already smells incredibly exciting and displays a great deal of complexity, this is already a real punch; the acidity and tannins need to integrate into the overall picture; it needs to find some calm and balance. The potential for a highly complex yet elegant, fine Riesling is there; with a few years of aging, something truly great will come of this!
