The Wine

100% Pinot Noir from 2014, grown on limestone marl. Fermented and aged in barriques, bottled in June 2015. Subsequent maturation on the lees until disgorgement in May 2023. No dosage was added to the champagne. The 2014 Pinot Noir displays chalky, mineral, and smoky notes on the nose. This is complemented by a dark spicy character with anise and fine Pinot fruit, especially cassis. Ripe, candied citrus fruit also shines through. On the palate, it has a lean, taut body, yet bone-dry and straight as an arrow. A very fine creaminess, along with pronounced, polished tannins with a slight bitter note and a slightly astringent texture. This lingers with a subtle hint of salt on the long finish. The wine possesses tremendous freshness and elegance, while simultaneously being spicy and powerful. Very dynamic and energetic, yet with plenty of depth and complexity. A great Blanc de Noir from the south of Champagne!
