The Wine

The Riesling "vom blauen Schiefer" is Busch's second wine from the Fahrlay vineyard in Pünderich's Marienburg. A clear, fresh nose with hints of apple, fresh citrus, a touch of white flowers, and stony, slate notes. Then a touch of cassis comes along, blending wonderfully with the dark, spicy minerality. On the palate, a fresh, clear entry full of salty piquancy, fine tannins coat the mouth, complex aromas of lemon, orange, and even a hint of tangerine mingle. Added to that is that stony, slate-like minerality, which underscores the wine's overall rather austere character. With more air, it becomes increasingly fragrant, floral, and playful. It's all very nuanced and complex; a lot is happening here, without overdoing it. A wonderfully structured Riesling in typical Clemens Busch style. Already open and charming, it has a lot of potential for years to come!

The Winery

Clemens Busch
Clemens Busch Clemens Busch is a true pioneer of sustainable viticulture and biodynamics on the terraced Mosel. The family business has been certified organic in its vineyards since 1986 and avoids any additives or synthetic aids in the cellar. The color of the bottle caps (gray, blue, or red) reveals the slate from which the Riesling originates. Despite their differences, the wines are united by their expressiveness, focus on the terroir, and a wonderfully juicy drinkability.
