The Wine
In Styria, Morillon is synonymous with the Chardonnay grape variety, and Tement has its very own Morillon characteristics. Completely in keeping with the Styrian classic style, in which the house's great Sauvignons are also vinified, we have an extremely purist, clear Chardonnay in the glass, focused on varietal character. From vines between 10 and 40 years old, grown on shell limestone and limestone marl soils, spontaneously fermented, and then aged on the fine lees for 18 months in large oak barrels. The result is a robust yet elegant white wine, with flint aromas of citrus fruit and fresh herbs. On the palate, it's quite juicy and still stony, with aromas that lean toward green, but are not unripe. The aging on the fine lees ensures a delicate creaminess that wonderfully captures these tangy, smoky elements and carries them into the medium-length finish. A unique Chardonnay and a great introduction to the Tement universe.
