The Wine
The vines for the Weißburgunder Reserve grow in Westhofener Morstein, one of the best and most renowned vineyards in Rheinhessen. Deep, dark-spicy wines with radiant minerality and expression are produced here on clay marl and limestone. The Burgundy vines for the < R > are around 25 years old and matured in small, used oak barrels. A spicy opening on the nose, a dense structure with nutty notes, complemented by delicate yellow fruit notes of quince and ripe citrus. Very fragrant and present, yet wonderfully fresh. The palate then develops a finely creamy structure, with a silky, juicy mouthfeel before the salty, mineral acidity shines through and lifts everything where it should be. The density and fullness so typical of Burgundy is wonderfully captured by this radiant freshness, making Weißburgunder a real delight! It's immediately accessible and ready to drink, while still maintaining enough structure for many years of bottle aging. Great wine value for little money, as always at Seehof!
