AJ Adam Winery – Mosel with rough edges
Andreas Adam has long since established himself among the upper echelons of Mosel winemakers . No frills, no grand gestures – just pure, precise Riesling that showcases the terroir's potential. Together with his sister Barbara, he runs the winery with tireless passion and a keen sense of the local terroir. The winery's vineyards, including the famous steep-slope Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, as well as underdogs like Häs'chen and Ohligsberg, yield grapes of exceptional quality, which Andreas and Barbara transform into exclusive, characterful wines.
The 2023 vintage – complex and uncompromising
2023 was a truly special year on the Mosel, helping Riesling reach its peak. With hot, dry summer months that demanded everything from the vines, and finally a saving July rain at just the right time, Andreas Adam was able to get the most out of his grapes. September brought warm nights that truly refined the grapes: they ripened quickly, were perfectly balanced, and had an acidity that was crisp but never unpleasant. The harvest was short but intense – the result? A vintage that strikes the perfect balance between freshness and depth – exactly what we expect from the Mosel, only a little better.
Here are the highlights you can get now in the shop:
Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Grand Cru 2023
The Goldtröpfchen remains true to its reputation: fine, complex, and incredibly multifaceted. The 2023 Riesling, as you'd expect—with just the right amount of acidity and fruit to make your mouth water.
Dhroner Häs'chen Riesling Grand Cru 2023
This year, the Häs'chen shows its cool, almost taut side. A Riesling that gets straight to the point and enters the stage with clear, mineral notes. A true wake-up call and a merciless ambassador of terroir.
Wintricher Ohligsberg Riesling Grand Cru 2023
Ohligsberg stands for power and structure – and the 2023 doesn't disappoint. A wine that's deep and intense, with aromas reminiscent of citrus and herbs, and a minerality that makes you feel like you're licking slate. Definitely one that needs time – and deserves it.
Conclusion: Act quickly before the bottles are gone
AJ Adam's Grand Crus aren't a mass product and are no longer an insider tip among fans. So don't hesitate – order, enjoy, and if you're smart, store a few bottles. Because these wines only get better.
