Prés Lasses
In the Faugères region at the foot of the Cévennes, Denis Feigl and his son Boris create true terroir wines that wonderfully showcase the characteristics of the Languedoc. Local grape varieties grow as bush vines under the southern French sun, and the vibrant vineyards are carefully and hand-cultivated. The result is powerful and concentrated wines that, despite the southern heat, always have a cool touch and conjure up the joie de vivre of southern France in the glass.Mehr erfahren
About Domaine Prés Lasses

Domaine des Prés Lasses produced its first vintage in 1999, shortly after the likeable Alsatian, Denis Feigel, came to sunny southern France to purchase a few plots of old Faugères vines around the village of Autignac. After a long career in winemaking and sales, he wanted to realize his dream of owning his own winery. Since 2005, his son Boris has been helping him manage the estate's 30-hectare vineyards, which now comprise more than 30 hectares. Boris is now primarily responsible for winemaking. The estate also owns seven hectares of Carignan, most of which still contain ancient, ungrafted vines. The slate-rich vineyards are located in the last rugged foothills of the Cévennes, where the roots must penetrate deep into the soil to extract nutrients, which contributes to the special character of the wines.
The vineyards are cultivated according to organic principles to preserve the vitality of the soil and a natural balance in the vineyard. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, and after careful selection, the wines are fermented spontaneously using native yeasts from the vineyard and cellar. No artificial additives, fining, or filtration are used. The wines mature for 18 to 24 months in rough concrete tanks and oak barrels with a small proportion of new wood. It is always amazing to see how father and son manage to vinify cool-looking wines that never show signs of heat or drought stress, despite the increasingly frequent periods of extreme heat and drought. Their wines are also characterized by a mineral vein, sometimes expressed in the form of slate smoke, sometimes in a pleasant salinity.

The symbol of the cool Prés Lasse style is theAmour Rouge AOP Languedoc , a cuvée consisting predominantly of Grenache and Cinsault, which is almost more reminiscent of cherry juice than wine, and is a true blessing when slightly chilled in summer. The counterpart is the Castel Viel AOP Faugères, with its high Carignan content. This powerful and robust wine captivates with intense notes of chocolate, coffee, and licorice. Finally, theNissau Rouge AOP Faugèges forms the crowning glory of the range. Here, the slate soil is most clearly evident, and the nose is pampered with a wonderful, delicate fragrance, while the palate is energetic and extremely pointed. This range encompasses fantastic diversity and showcases Languedoc wines at the highest level!
