About Domaine Ciringa

The Austrian-Slovenian Domaine Ciringa, part of the renowned Tement winery , is located on the impressive Fosilni Breg, or "Fossil Mountain." This name couldn't be more fitting, as the vineyards are composed of pure coral limestone soils that tell a story spanning thousands of years. Here, you'll literally stumble upon fossilized marine creatures that bear witness to a bygone era.
The domaine's vineyards, cultivated with passion and expertise, produce exceptional wines from a unique terroir. Sauvignon Blanc grapes thrive on the barren subsoil, blending perfectly with clay-rich marl and fertile brown earth. The result is wines of the highest quality and unique character. The label, adorned with a fossilized starfish, recounts the millennia-old history of this magical place and testifies to its special origins.

The flagship wine from Ciringa, located in the Slovenian part of the top Zieregg vineyard, comes from the outstanding "Pruh" parcel. The Tement family has been cultivating this vineyard for several years according to biodynamic standards and with painstaking manual labor. The Sauvignon Blanc Pruh undergoes an extremely long aging in large oak barrels and remains on the fine lees for a full 50 months. The result is an outstanding wine full of texture and finesse.
The winery's entry-level offering is the Sauvignon Blanc Fosilni Breg , a wine full of spice and sparse stoniness. Also handcrafted using biodynamic methods, this wine remains in large wooden barrels for 18 months and offers a tremendous sensory spectacle. When you consider that you're essentially drinking Zieregg in a glass, the price is actually unbelievable. Tement goes one step further with the Fosilni Breg Reserve , which shows how beautifully these mineral wines can age. Ciringa is less for lovers of Sauvignon fruit bombs; instead, it delights fans of stony, austere Loire wines. For them, however, trying Ciringa wines is an absolute must!
