The VDP Weingut Peter Jakob Kühn is one of the leading wineries in the Rheingau and is at the forefront of biodynamic viticulture. Peter Jakob and his son Peter Bernhard manage it jointly. Peter was influenced by biodynamic wines from Alsace and also spent some time in Burgundy. As a result, some of the winery's great wines are characterized by a very Burgundian style for Riesling.

What sets this winery apart is its extremely high quality across all levels. Even the entry-level wine, Jakobus, is drinkable Riesling perfection and simply leaves you wanting more. The OrtsweinRiesling Oestrich Quarzit already delivers a level comparable to a Grosse Gewächs (Grand Cru) and represents the Oestrich terroir, with its soils characterized by Taunus quartzite, phyllite slate, and loess loam. The winery's wines are characterized by a unique density and individuality. They are always penetrating and present, but never overly rich, and they also age exceptionally well.

With an annual production of 100,000 bottles, PJK is no longer a small winery, yet it still only produces a small number of Grosses Gewächs (Gross Growths), which are quickly becoming rarities on the wine market. The best GGs come from the "Jungfer" and "St. Nikolaus" vineyards, known for their unique soil structure and exposure. The Riesling Jungfer Grosses Gewächs (Gross Growth) is very mineral, almost dusty, and has very fine fruit aromas. The Riesling St. Nikolaus Grosses Gewächs (Gross Growth) is darker and spicier in the glass, with an elegant creaminess reminiscent of white Burgundy. Kühn represents archetypal Rheingau Rieslings with a clear character and excellent aging potential.
